Just ate the first strawberry from the plants we put in the ground in April. WOW. There were only 2 that were ripe, but I'm sure there will be more soon. And these plants haven't matured yet...

I have 16 completed as of right now. My inherited rolling luggage piece is now stuffed full and in my trunk waiting for delivery at the school tomorrow when I can duck out at "lunchtime" (time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.)

now have (spandex) pants and poufy shirts. I went through an unbelievable amount of white fabrics for these - the entire bold of "donation" fabric (15 yards, I think), and close to another 30 yards of muslin. 19 of the things, all total. Each shirt took close to 3 yards, so I guess that's about right. Sheesh ( Read more... )

I've been downed by vertigo for the past couple of days. I saw the doctor this morning, and he prescribed meclazine, which seems to be a prescription version of Dramamine. I've taken my first dose and I'm waiting for it to kick in. The weather is beautiful outside, and I'm missing it because I can't drag myself out of bed ( Read more... )

I think I can put the serger away for now. I have to find the manual for it, because I suspect that the double-needle really works better with this material. I also  have to stop calling my Juki serger "junky" because it worked like a champ this time, and I will probably be using it more for other projects now that I've become used to worknig with ( Read more... )

I'm in the middle of sewing 20 or so pairs of spandex parti-colored pants, and I'm going to need to get more. The Capulets are in red and yellow stripes, and the Montagues are in blue and lavender for the fight scene. No photos yet, but I have the 3 Ancient Greek costumes for the Midsummer Night's Dream scene. 2 women's and 1 man's costumes - 4 pieces in all (I've given the man a toga-like wrap on top of his chiton so he won't be so naked on stage - these are High School kids after all).
